Soil Microbiology vacancy - UW Madison

The Department of Soil Science seeks applications for a tenure track faculty position in soil microbiology.

The candidate will explore topics in soil microbiology research such as: nutrient cycling in managed and natural ecosystems, soil biodiversity, human and soil ecosystem health, pathogens in the soil environment, greenhouse gas production and carbon cycling, novel molecular and bioinformatic techniques within the field of environmental microbiology, soil microhabitats and biophysics.

The candidate should be able to work cross-disciplinarily, enhancing linkages across the food-water-energy nexus. The teaching component of the position would entail a minimum of instruction at the undergraduate and graduate level and over time, a summer course. This position carries a commitment to the three functions of research, instruction, and outreach, as well as professional and university service as appropriate to faculty rank.

The position will require effective oral and written communications skills; experience in teaching in higher education; ability to work effectively across disciplines and with teams; and the ability to lead and motivate others.
