Egyptian Soil Science Society (ESSS)
Who
The Egyptian Soil Science Society was established in1950. Member experiences covering the areas of soil and water sciences as well as the environment from all aspects including:- Pedology of soils and include the framework of the inventory and land classification and mapping of topography, soil, agricultural and remote sensing.
- Chemistry and mineralogy of soils.
- The nature of the soil and water relationships and that includes the framework of studies of irrigation and field drainage.
- Soil fertility and plant nutrition including the framework of studies of fertilizers and fertilization.
- Microbiology and biogeochemistry of trace elements in the rhizosphere.
- Techniques of soil and that includes the framework of studies of land reclamation and soil conservation.
What, When and Where
Several activities already have been planned including the following activities:
(1) The main symposium for ESSS, which entitled “Healthy Soils for a Healthy Life” on October 12 – 13, 2015, SWERI, ARC, Giza, Egypt.

(3) Soil sciences department in Cairo University organized a special celebration by the World Soil Day by the first of December 2015 by presenting the movie of “Symphony of the soil” as shown in following photos:
