Faz Cano is Professor of Pedology at the Agricultural
Science and Technology Department, and Director of the
Research Group at the Technical University of Cartagena,
Spain. Recent Research activities includes agricultural
soil use capability; soil salinization in agricultural
systems evaluation and mapping in WRB Classification
system and the USDA Taxonomy; soil use and global
change, carbon balance under different soil management
systems. Attended more than 75mainly International
meeting and presented more than 170 papers. He organized
6th International Meeting on Soils with Mediterranean
Type of Climate in Barcelona, Spain (1999); Chairman
International Symposium on Sustainable Use and
Management of Soils in Arid and Semiarid Regions in
2002, Chairman Fourth International Conference on Land
Degradation in 2004. He visited University of
Saskatchewan.Canada; Universidad Autónoma Chapingo,
Mexico; Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas, México;
Colegio de Posgraduados, México; Universiteit van
Ámsterdam; Universidad Catolica del Norte, Chile;
University of Pennsilvania, USA; Oregon State
University, USA, and University of Madison, Harran
University in Turkey. He has published more than 35
reviewed articles in Chemosphere, Science of the total
environment, Land Degradation and Development, Water Air
and Soil Pollution, Canadian Journal of Soil Science,
Catena, International Biodeterioration and
Biodegradation, Clays and Clay Minerals. Arid Soil
Research and Rehabilitation. He was CoEditor of Catena
