Patrick Gicheru

 

Patrick Gicheru is  a senior principal research scientist and holds PhD in land and water management. I am the Director of The National Agricultural Research Laboratories of Kenya Agricultural Research Institute.  I have an extensive experience in natural resource management with a bias in sustainable land management and environmental impacts on agricultural land use spanning over 25 years. My current research focuses on land and water management linking it with natural resource management and land use planning. Recently he has been involved with issues related to Green Water credits and payment of environmental services, land degradation, climatic change and how they impact on carbon stocks nationally and internationally.  He has  been involved lately in the development of three GEF funded projects in Kenya and one IFAD funded. One concluded this year, one ongoing and the others at an advanced stage of funding. My contribution to soil science will be the enormous experience on dealing with land degradation issues in the tropics.
