Pavel Krasilnikov is the head of the Soil Ecology laboratory of and Soil Geography (Institute of Biology KarRC, Russian Academy of Sciences), Full Professor of the Faculty of Sciences of National Autonomous University of Mexico. He has more than 100 scientific publications, including the book (together with Prof. S. A. Shoba). “Soil Terminology and Correlation” (1999 – edition in Russian, 2002 – edition in English), and articles on the classification on tropical soil, acid sulphate soils, and vernacular soil classifications. He has organized the International Meeting on “Soil Classification 2004” (Petrozavodsk, Russia). For several years he has organized annual international seminars on soil classifications in Mexico. He was the convener of the Symposium “Indigenous Soil Classifications” at the 18th WCSS in Philadelphia. He actively participates in the Commission on Russian soil classification and in the WRB Working Group.
